This blog space is to collect my work and findings through exploring Background Design and its importance in the field of animation.
That of which is to say, good background design is crucial to animation to the point where individuals within large and small studios tend to be designated solely on creating backgrounds and nothing else. Where the characters portray interaction and emotion backgrounds provide us with visual exposition and mood. If an animation studio is clever with how they utilize backgrounds they can tell a story without a single bit of verbal exposition and still have an audience sympathize if it involves characters (take for example the introductory sequence of UP).
I want to personally explore background design through my own doing.
